Philbert Begay’s jewelry is rooted in traditional Navajo designs and accented with fine, natural turquoise and other quality gemstones. His traditional motifs and pictorial subjects create modern, rather than overtly contemporary designs. Phil Begay is the son of noted Navajo silversmith Richard Begay.

Sadly, Richard Begay passed away on June1, 2013. He was a tenured artist at Santa Fe Indian Market.
Workshops
January 7th, 2017 The Heard Museum hosted a Native Jewelers Society (NJS) Demonstration Workshop and Emerging Jewelers Market on January 7th, 2017 with several NJS artists, including Philbert Begay who demonstrated stampwork techniques. NJS workshops focus on providing a greater appreciation and understanding of all native jeweler’s skills, techniques, and the time needed to create high quality, hand-made work.
